Wisconsin State Fair

Over the weekend we went to the Wisconsin State Fair. The Wisconsin State Fair is legendary here. They have crazy things like fried butter on a stick, krispy kreme cheeseburgers, chocolate covered bacon on a stick.  Mike and I have never been to the fair in the eight years we have lived in Wisconsin. It's just never appealed to us, but this year my company's picnic was at the fair so we figured we would give it a try.

We got off to a rocky start by thinking it would be fun to sit for a caricature artist.  We did get a semi-cute family picture out of it - the caricature, not so much.  I let the cat out of the bag too early about the animals we would see, because that is all Christopher wanted to do.

His horses were the favorite and he can't wait to go see Grandpa's horse and ride it when we go visit over Labor Day. I'm not too worried because Grandpa's horse is very big and I don't think Christopher will want to get on it when he sees how big it is.

He really liked sitting in the tractor and pretending to drive it.

We did this activity twice.

There were also pictures of animals being born. Pretty graphic.

Mikayla slept for most of the fair.

We saw baby chickens.

Baby ducks.

Baby pigs.

Show sheep.

Show pigs.

Mikayla was really worn out from the fair. She went right back to sleep when we got her into the car.

Christopher fell asleep for about a minute on the way home.  He didn't go down for a nap which made for quite the fun day.

We managed to only spend $23. Fifteen dollars on parking right across the street - well worth it and $8 on a blow up spiderman - not worth it. Poor spidey has laid deflated on our living room floor since we got back.

Pretty sure that we won't be making any special arrangements to go back to the fair again. I'd rather go see the animals at the Zoo.
